Can you cash checks here?

You can cash payroll or government checks if they meet certain criteria and aren't above a certain amount at Safeway last time I checked 2 years ago. There is a small fee, not sure of the amount, maybe $5. I haven't cashed a check here but I have cashed payroll checks at fred meyer where the $3 fee is waived if you load any amount of it onto a fred meyer visa prepaid card so I like that option, plus you get double points by using a fred Meyer prepaid if you attach it to your rewards card phone number. Plus you can use visa anywhere I have an amex and hate it bc no one accepts it at retail places. Namaste!
