American cheese and fried onions, sometimes provolone, never cheesewhiz.
A little bit of heaven from God! Yummy!
Both, American AND provolone cheese...Fried onions, a tiny bit of mayo for the bread, and depending on my mood I'll add fried mushrooms
I grew up in Philly, PA in the OLNEY section and White House sub shop on ARTIC AVE in Atlantic City,nj ,Never mind a cheese steak you can get that any where, the heart and soul is their HOAGIE, ILT STYLE. here's the best way, my mother had 2 cottages on WESTMINSTER AVE (beach block between NEW YORK AVE AND KENTUCKY, it was nicknamed 🐍 SNAKE ALLEY IT HAD 7 Bends) any way get oil on bottom layer before the meat ITALIAN meat then when a nice portion of onions last, now here's where the sandwich is made better but you must wait tell the guy to put some more oil on top of onions, then tell him it's going out of town can you double wrap it, do not say that before you order so that as he is wrapping it. Let it sit out in the house for 1hour then the onion will by that time release all the juices flowing through the sandwich, unwrap and you will never go back for any other sandwich period. Bet me, I'm 69 years old and the White-House is by garbage #1 . SARGE
