For instance, the gazebo is beautiful and lightly shaded, while the fountain, stairs, and swings are generally brightly lit (weather cooperating, of course).

Downtown Norcross has many beautiful locations to take great pictures. I am a photographer and some of my best shots have come from that area. I personally recommend early evening before the sun goes down (the sun rays shine through the trees or as the sun is coming up (the morning fog is amazing during the fall).
