I usually recommend out of town people to go to the IHOP in brighton as its 24 hrs and free parking. I realize this is not feasible for everyone if you're meeting someone without a car. But basically parking meter rates are $1.25 an hour IF you fine a spot. Which unless you are prepared to wait more than two hours on average you will not find a metered spot. You're more likely to pay $16-20 to park at Charles parking. If you must park here, i highly recommend parking hero or other ways to ensure an affordable spot when you need it. (If youre commuting it still wont be affordable as $8 a day is tremendous) Cambridge residents often say here "Parking spots are worth more than gold" or "There is no greater crime against humanity than a stolen parking permit" Basically university smack dab in middle of commerical/residential real estate. Add commuters, faculty, students and residents ...
There is street parking but very limited do to the constant tourist attractions and there is the Charles Hotel parking garage and Reservoir parking garage.
Paid parking garage, public parking around street corner.
