what type of perches do the birds perch on? are they dowels or natural wood perches?

My understanding was naturl wood, not dowels. Bamboo maybe? We will find out Saturday when we pick up my mom's budgee.

They use dragonwood, an American hardwood. Custom sizes are available. http://www.cbbirds.net/custom-bird-standsperches.html Dowel perches are not recommended for anything but possibly transferring a bird from stand to cage or stand to stand. Birds need different diameters like a natural branch to exercise their toes properly. Average diameter depends on the size of the bird. They'll help you determine the best size for your ird.
