3D provides glasses for the pop out effect of the movie. XD is a theatre with better quality surround sound and the seating is not one standard level.
3d is for the wow effect of (it looks like it's coming at you)and XD is supposed to be surround sound but what I experienced is IMAX is way better..if you're looking for that surround feeling
