To my knowledge, they are legally required to capture photo ID for all alcohol purchases where the person looks under the age of 40. Depending on the POS they use, this could be done via photo capture or scanning the barcode on your ID.
I'm not sure. We had breakfast in the restuarant. I would think that would be a good idea though.
