Wegman's in NJ always requests id when alcohol our tobacco products are purchased. If you had an out of state license the supervisor might have been required to verify it. I would hope it didn't have to do with race. I don't see Wegman's as that kind of place.
?Why hasn't anyone answered Mr. Reyes' question for a Year? I'm interested in the answer, too. Sooo, how about it? Anyone?
I have purchased cigarettes in nj and never asked to present id.
Oddly I find their policy somewhat ludicrous. When they card people who are clearly over 21 it's a tad insulting. It was cute when I was 40.
the store has a right to make sure you are of legal purchasing age. if the cashier wasnt familiar with your id it makes sense for them to ask for a second opinion from a manager...they are the ones that have to pay large fines if they sell to someone under age.
Wegmans asks for ID for any alchol purchases , and if the associate is under 21 a manager is called over to verify the ID. They also have this policy posted.
The only time any supermarket has ever asked me for my ID was when I was buying alcohol. Were you buying alcohol or cigarettes?
