Is there anywhere around to tent camp off the beaten path not in a campground?

There are three campgrounds within a mile of Bellaire Lake on the Manhattan road that you can camp with a tent a camper or whichever you wish

No. All camping is on designated areas only. Although reservations are a good idea, I've been up there most of the summer and there were tent sites open.
