I am hesitant to give a bad review because of the impact it can have on a business. However, we had a very poor experience and paid a hefty price for one night at this hotel. This is the first time I’ve arrived at a hotel at 6:30pm and been told our room has not yet been cleaned. The gentlemen at the front desk was not apologetic. We paid $288 for one night to be told we had to wait in the parking lot hours after the official check in time. Once in the room, 232, it was obvious that it is in need of a significant renovation. The sink did not drain at all, forcing us to brush our teeth in the shower, the shower was rusty in several spots, the bathroom floor was not clean, and walls are thin. I’ve stayed in $70/night hotels and hostels that were nicer than this room. I informed the lobby staff at check out of our concerns noted above and was politely told that I would receive a call to discuss within 1-2 days. I received no follow-up from management. Please do not waste your time and money with this place.

The property was alright. Definitely old and in need of renovations. You would expect a property with "RESORT" in the name and fancy signs on the highway to be nice right? Wrong. I've stayed in motel 6's cleaner and more comfortable then the room I stayed in. My room was 225 for a whopping $250 a night. I brought this up with management only to get a "oh I'm sorry you are in one of our rooms that hasent been renovated yet." Why up charge the room then? I feel ripped off. The entire Bottom of bathroom door is decaying and rusting. The spring mattresses that have sunk down so the edges dig into you when you sit down is not "resort" material. Hot tub and sauna was nice but even the continental breakfast was disgusting. Everything frozen for god knows how long. I will never be staying here or recommending this place to anyone else.

Had a quick road trip to Long Beach and stayed at the Chautauqua Lodge. I hadn't been to this particular hotel in years, they have since updated many of their rooms into 'condos', which is a nice update....they've combined what use to be two separate hotel rooms into much larger 'condo' units, with separate bedroom, kitchen, and living room with sleeper couch....nice!! Very quick easy access to the beach and Discovery Trail, great for bicycling! Nice views of ocean and beach from upper floor balconies, and pet friendly, which is a must for us. This isn't a high-end luxury type of place, but it's a comfortable decent place to stay, and serves the purpose of being a 'home-base' for us at Long Beach. Thumbs-up for Chautauqua Lodge and their condo updates....we'll definitely be coming back!!

The room was decent, however the lady who works the front desk in the evenings has the worst customer service. Because of her myself, my friends or my family will not stay here again. Before booking I called to check the pet policy and she was extremely rude on the phone and than apologized and said she had been by herself all day and hadn't even had the chance to eat. So I dismissed her attitude and booked the room anyways. Upon checking in I was checking in the same time as my sister and we asked to book a time for the pool, she said okay but put us down under my sisters room. I asked if I could I book my own reservation and she said no because they are trying to save time and space (whatever that means) than when it was time to go swimming she wouldn't let my kids in with their cousins because she said we didn't have reservations. So I had to call her and remind her that she wouldn't let us, than she got really rude and said "whatever we will just have free for all" than hung up on me. Than was extremely rude to my kids and telling them she has been working all day and she is over all it. It states they have roll away beds for 10$ a night so I asked for one and she said because I have a room with 2 beds in it I don't need one because it's a fire hazard, I have stayed at plenty of hotels and even worked at 1 and have never heard of not allowing a rollaway in a room with two beds. Then the next night she wouldn't let my 17 year old and 12 year old go to the pool because they weren't with someone over 18, which is fine but it was her comments to them that were extremely rude, even told them that she was in a bad mood the day before and wasn't letting them slide this time.. I should of known from the 1st phone call not to stay but I gave the place the benefit of the doubt but because of her, we will never stay at this place again. He attitude and rudeness has ruined our family vacation.
