Can hear everything through the wall in the bedroom. So annoying neighbor playing piano at 1:00 am. No policy by management to handle noise disturbances other than calling police. Finishes are high end and apartments very nice. Kitchen and bath beautiful. Maintenance issues handled promptly. Heating cooling system work well. Management friendly and generally helpful. Sometimes there is a slight sewage smell in bathroom sink. Windows don’t open at least not easily essentially unusable.

I had to post this after reading the last review. We moved down to Corning, NY, 1 year after retiring from the military. From May 2014 to June 2017 we resided on the 3rd floor of Academy Place, in the library apartment. First off, the building is a beautiful old schoolhouse in a residential neighborhood. The City of Corning is lovely and extremely walkable. The construct of the revitalization of that building was wrought with apparent malaise, cost cutting measures, and unprofessional management. From the get to, the management provided a kid from out of high school to manage the office, there was no cleaning crew initially, old leaking windows from previous build without screens, etc. Renters had to get a petition to send to get a cleaning crew onboard. Through our tenure, the water quality in Corning is poor and highly mineralized. They took out the water filtration in the rebuild. The refrigerator water filter needs to be changed every 6 months. The new water heater element had to be changed after 2 years. Storm windows were put in, without screens, but we so low quality, they could not be opened by a single regular person. The HVAC in our particular apartment because of only 1 air handler instead of 2, was insufficient. It was uncomfortable during the summer and winter months. Foul odors would come up intermittently from the drainage pipes. The supplemental storage units put in as an afterthought, were of poor quality construct, small, and overpriced. The hallways are not heated nor A/C. The management company, was out of Rochester, NY so the responses were not only muted but almost always delayed. The construction company was out of Watertown, NY and not known for its excellence throughout the community. As a for the positives, they got better staffing in the last year, the neighbors were extremely nice, and everything was walkable. It was a safe place to live and we loved the town. Academy Place was one of a few reasons we just could not stay. I hope this review is helpful.
