Motel 6 Charlotte, NC - Airport

So far this is not a great customer experience. We asked for non smoking and clearly there has been. It smelled horrible. There was black mold in the bathroom, which I am deathly allergic to. The front desk accommodated (which is a very nice lady)and switched our room. In this new room, the bathroom is unfinished with uncovered outlets and ventilation areas. Be aware there is no microwave in any room. This alone will keep me away from this location in the future. It is however a quiet area, which was pleasant.

I chose this motel for the location and price. It was acceptable for the price, and I was only staying 1 night. The bathroom looked old and worn. It was just clean enough not to bother me. There was a cigarette burn on the toilet seat in this non-smoking room. But I didn't smell old smoke in the room, and the cleaning material smell wasn't obtrusive. The outside door and lock were kind of loose and difficult. Shower temp control was out of adjustment so it was hard to find HOT, but we did get hot water. Beds were average in comfort. No hair dryer, although I think the listing said it was provided, and there was an empty bracket on the wall. There was a fridge and microwave oven which we didn't use.

I am not really much of a snob when it comes to hotels. I try to find the cheapest one especially because I'm not going to be in the hotel much when I travel. But the bed had bugs! After getting bit by one, I searched the bed and there were bugs and hair (not mine). It looked as if they didn't even care to wash their sheets. I didn't sleep. Otherwise the room wasn't bad... the sink and counter is really nice, nice floors, nice tv. The tub could use some better cleaning (but I was leaving early enough where I could go home and shower, which is exactly what I did after laying in that bed) the bed is the most important part, and I won't be going back to that hotel and I'm tempted to stay away from all motel 6's. The guests were really loud outside too. The people who worked their were really nice and attempted to control the crowd but it didn't work.

Let me say firstly that the reception desk person was great and the 4 stars are for her. She was very responsive and patient. The first room she gave me smelled of smoke even though it was a non smoking room. I requested another room and she promptly gave me another room. She even followed up with me to ensure I was satisfied. I also was having an issue with the TV remote and she promptly sent someone to resolve it. The room itself was OK, It had a microwave and that was really nice!. However, the floors need better cleaning!! There were hairs (yuck!) on the floor so they did a poor job of vacuuming. Another issue was the basin did not have a push/pull stopper so I could not fill the basin or empty the water. Basically, the room needed a bit of attention. Motel 6 is cheap and they allow pets and that's why I stay there. I don't expect much and I'm satisfied with it, but please pay attention to the floors.
