Whole Foods standard: better than most grocery chains, still weak on produce variety.

Let's face it, this place was never reasonable in pricing, but lately it seems downright offensive. But, at least I could count, in the past, on beautiful pastries, good lunch options, fresh fish, good freshly baked bread. Now, it's not a shallow leftover, resting on its laurels. The baked goods are a premanufactured excuse, the prices for fish and meats are so inflated that you'd be better off going to a farmers market, and their deli options or sushi does not try to impress, rather tries to minimize cost of ingredients to the detriment of the consumer.

The thing about Whole Foods is while there's good to great quality is just over the top on price. If you have no desire to explore locally in the area then this store is for you. For sure there are going to be items you just can't get without a store like this but you're putting for that convenience. The take out food section is well done and I use that often. Funny really so there for much else when I come back to Portland. Trend to stock up at Trader Joe's for economy on grocery items.

Whole Foods has a lot to offer, and I shop there regularly. The people are really nice and always helpful. The store is clean and attractive. Their produce department is one of the best I’ve ever seen. Since they were purchased by Amazon, their breadth of selection has been diminished, and there are many fewer unprocessed and whole-grain options than there used to be, and fewer local and lesser known products. (For instance, they now only carry pearled barley; they discontinued hulled barley, which is less processed.) This has led me to shop more often at smaller, local markets, which is probably a good thing. But I still shop at Whole Foods regularly, and it is still a really good store.

Making ur own dill pickles... fantastic! Please call WF and ask them if they carry this ingredient. I hope that you can find it and your pickles turn out to be wonderful. 😋
I believe Amazon bought them since if your a Prime member you get additional sales and such!
I'm sure they carry it... possibly from different dairies and importers. I just can't understand why people don't think of calling WF customer service and store direct. Hope you find it... 😋
Best to call them. Google questions are fielded by locals who may not be in store at the time. That said, I'm pretty sure I've seen them.
Oh wow, I never knew that such a lemonade kind was made. Anyway, I'm thinking asking the store would be the best. I hope you find it!
I would imagine that they have something along those lines... did u go to their website or call their customer service desk... if NOT then u should... try being proactive... hope you find what you're looking for. Try contacting the PORTLAND food coop, or even Lois natural mkt on India Street... even Rosemont markets carry a variety of dairy products. 😁
Hi Phyllis... WF has an array of essential oils... I use them for medicinal purposes, as a disinfectant and antibacterial, as bug repellent and used them to defend my apartment from roaches and bedbugs. You will most likely need to dilute them with a carrier oil... I use coconut oil for the skin... jojoba works well too. Some essential oils are very potent and can be toxic to children and pets. To make a spray for around the home... I dilute them in alcohol.... pls call WF to check on the specific oils mentioned... 😉
I've never seen anything advertised. I would check their site.
I know my market in New York sells it year round. Cannot answer for whole foods
They do have Udi’s!
Depends on where you buy your lobster 🦞 🤔 Hannaford and Shaw's steam them and they are never cooked through. They need to be boiled, which I'd rather do myself ❗
Yep, they do indeed!
I am not sure sorry
They do!
On line ordereing
No idea. But I like where your heads at.
Yes. Whole Foods has Sage
Grasshoppers?
No
I haven't bought it but I'm sure they do, they have an extensive bulk food selection
I am not sure if they do or not
I did not see any yesterday.
I only say yes to items I know are carried by the store. Otherwise I answer Not Sure.
It is definitely there. https://m.wholefoodsmarket.com/stores/portland-me
Yes I think so 😊
Yes, but you should contact the store to make sure.
Yes, there's a wide variety of sodas in the store.
Local guides not employees are typically the ones answering questions here, so you are much better off calling in to the Store or checking on their actual website. I did a quick search on the Whole Foods website and it appears they may have some Beyond Meat products.
Sorry, i just don't know.
No I idea , I would call and ask they're always have new products
Please rephrase and expand your question. Thank you.
If it is in season, you may find fresh Jack fruit. I would call ahead and ask unless you are going anyway. Ask a produce team member and they should be able to tell you if/when they may have it.
As Kit Johnson said: seasonally. Hannaford also has them from time to time. Sorry i can't be more specific.
Like as referenced by the song Down Under by Men at Work?
Please call them directly... they have a customer service desk... or check the website... have a pleasant day ☔
No idea, call store
I would go to the store and find out, groceries come in now and then
Yep!
In the bulk aisle there is dried. I believe in the main center aisles near the granola and dried fruit, there may be more brands.
Yes they do. I have seen it in two places. One nearvthe fresh garlic on an endcap and also in the cooking section.
Yes it does. Look for them innthe fresh produce section near the flower station. They do move around so ask an associate in that area if you cannot find them.
Yes
Call them
Yes, but i think Portland co-op up the street has a better selection
Last time I was there, yes.
Yes, you can purchase larger quantities from the bakery department (if they have it) They usually keep it frozen so i would suggest calling ahead so they can defrost it enough to cut you whatever quantity you would like.
A bit late, but just ask them! I asked them when it fiest happened, and it was because they had a lot of eggplant to spare.
