It is shame that this location isn't better taken care of. Stood in water while showering because it wouldn't drain, no ac in lobby (which I am sure made the desk staff as unhelpful as they were), breakfast was pitiful and how about that pool. Location walkable to to downtown should make it worth a complete remodel.

I stay here several times a year as I am a railfan and watch CSX and Western Maryland Scenic trains in the area. If you do not like the sounds of trains at night, request a room on the front of the motel which faces away from the tracks. In my most recent stay, check in was quick and efficient. When I was departing my room for the day, the housekeeper asked if I needed anything for the room as I had the do not disturb sign on the door. I replied that I was fine. My room was clean with no signs of wear and tear. Air conditioning unit had no trouble keeping room cool during warm muggy weather. Upon my return that evening to begin my 2nd night of my stay, the desk clerk was out in the lobby taking care of something and he asked me if my room was ok and if I needed any towels or anything else for the room...I thanked him and replied that everything was fine in the room. Bottom line, enjoyable stay with friendly attentive staff.

I’m so sorry, I have never left a bad review. This is an exception. After looking through other reviews, it appears we got a cleaner room than other people did, however, it is still bad. The wallpaper is totally falling apart and needs updating. The room looks 15+ years old, the A/C was not on when we walked in, and the carpet is dirty and stained. The carpet in our room was definitely on the better side of stained carpets. Did I mention that the elevators are probably the worst in all of the United States. The doors close within moments after walking out, and they are very noisy. It almost sounds as if it’s about to break. On the plus side, service was very nice and there were 3 large luggage carts to bring your luggage to your room.

Don't read into the negative reviews. Family owned and operated. I'm a trucker that needed a couple of nights due to break down. Everything is fine. Interesting little town with lots of history. This hotel is smack down walking distance from some interesting experiences and plenty of food options.
