Had a great 4 day stay at the Tru while working at Clemson. Desk staff were wonderful especially Kelly working the afternoon shift. Had a small problem with my booking and she handled it like a champ all while being incredibly professional. She was also a great concierge helping me and my colleagues find great dining options in the area. The staffs overall friendliness should not be dismissed and is a big reason I will be staying here for my future visits.

Some sports team showed up and made it unbearable to sleep. Not being nitpicky, but they were allowed to constantly slam doors all night. Asked to move to another floor, was told everything was booked at this point. Horrible service. When being told every single room in the hotel was booked on 4/22, there was never a computer check, I was just being told this verbally. I completely understand it is not the hotels fault that a slew of college kids with no home training were all of checked in close to 11pm and were not made to mind. However, I was also told that I would need to get an exact room number of the people that were being loud. So, not only was there not a single movement made on the staffs part, I was also told I had to police the hallways instead of you know... People that work there? The rooms were nice. But I got no sleep and defeated the purpose of paying 170 dollars for a night to be kept up all night. Horrible staff that did nothing to help alleviate a legitimate grievance a guest had. If the young ladies behind the counter would have made it look like they attempted to check something, it would have at least shown some kind of respect for guests. Ah well, no love lost.

My go to place when in Clemson but this time it missed the mark. Linen’s, bedding smelled musty, probably from previous guest and my request for towels was ignored or forgotten. Room cleanliness definitely declined from previous visits. I’ll give it another shot but next time will demand a linen change promptly if same situation occurs. Outside of that great location, great lobby and no carpeting floors in the room which I love.

Overall a good stay, these properties are different than other Hilton branded hotels, they cater to the millennials or the wired crowd, mostly, They have a game area with a pool table/ game room and they have hip signs telling you about the area. They have a nice selection of quick meals and drinks in the lobby with snacks, albeit they are pricey. Have a nice outdoor patio area to hang out. You will find the usual, like a weight room and ample seating in the lobby. The ice machine, just one, is in the lobby and they have plastic buckets to get your ice, along with a water fill fountain for your water bottles. The rooms are nice with roll down blinds and a bathroom that uses soap dispensers instead of soap bars and bath gel, shampoo, and conditioner, again in dispensers. The dispensers are sometimes a little hard to use especially for arthritic seniors because it requires some force to get product to come out. The bed is comfy but I always push the mattress all the way over to the side that I am getting in and out of, cause It is on a wood frame which is a lot bigger than the mattress and I have banged my legs and rubbed the back of my calves when I didn't. Bare floor with no rug so have slippers or keep your socks on when its cold. Breakfast is again geared toward the younger crowd with Bagels<english Muffins, and toast, but no muffins or pastries, and just eggs and when I was there turkey sausage, which isn't really sausage, it's turkey, and they have a pancake machine kinda different instead of waffles, but they lacked any fruit that you find at the others. Overall it's usually a little cheaper than other Hilton properties so it's a good bargain. Just different, but the location is outstanding right next to Clemson and located in a shopping center that has a variety of food options and a Aldi. The staff are very nice and friendly and extremely helpful.
