The pay is low .it doesn't matter if its free as in boarding or education or trade.when you pay its very low to start.and buying from a canteen is high.I would make sure your family is close so you can get things easily rather than the canteen..because the pay you get is very low ..for being in side a place that is to pay you also.

I graduated from the Carpentry trade ~'81. Worked Union jobs for about a year. Then got my GED, went to Ft Lewis College and CSU for degree in CS. Worked on Shuttle program in Houston, several programs (some classified) at LMC. Most recently worked for Maxar on Lunar Gateway PPE program. This was a good stepping stone in my life. Still do carpentry in my spare time.

I started that Mingo Job Corps and graduated Mingo Job Corps with welding then I transferred to Collbran job corpse Colorado In the advance fire program for which I also graduated. My experience was less than satisfactory. Mostly due to higher up in management over the Center's level. I personally experienced and witnessed a particular staff member belittle students over matters they have no control of or matters for or which are inappropriate on a professional level to discuss let alone belittle someone over. It's not cool it's not constructive neither is it healthy. Unfortunately this individual has enough over reach to make this a problem on a center wide level. One may even call it Criminal to a certain degree. The manipulation the double standards the profiling and last but not least the Power Trip hostage mentality. I could go on and on. If you still want to go here go ahead. Perhaps and hopefully you will have a better experience then I have and many others. And if you are a parent please consider what you are sending your kid into. They are so petty I would not put it past them to legally come after me for this to keep face. I genuinely think things will not change here unless there is a restructure of how things are managed at this location and yet again I doubt that will happen.

Yes, it helps under privileged youth get their high school diploma and GED, while learning vocational skills.
No, only find the use of cell phones is good is when checking them out for peace or weekendend pass
Yes
Tours of the center are done every Friday.
Weekends are from 11am to 6pm Weekdays are 430pm-7pm
So this question might be a tiny bit confusing do bare with this. You don't really get to choose what campus you go to yet you also just can't be put on to some waiting list to get a chance at attending. You should start off by finding your closest job corps recruiting office and speak with them. They can get you all the best answers and explain way better then I probably did 😁 Good luck I was able to attend Collbran job corps and graduated in 2007
You can't use cell phones on center once you arrive as a student and other electronics can be used after trade/education hours so 4:00 and they ask you to put them away at 9pm.
Yea they can there is times and places for them to smoke or dip
