Lake is absolutely disgusting. It really used to be a great place to fish, take a walk around, picnic, ect. The campground are clean but a little tight for big campers. One newer playground for the kids but the other side of the lakes equipment could definitely use an update. The city of Cherokee could definitely put a little more effort in this park and especially the lake.

As a kid growing up in Cherokee County, my family came here quite a bit. I now make a visit here probably once every couple years. It is a nice sized park with a good trail around the lake. I've never camped here, so I can't comment on those facilities. My extended family did rent a building for a family reunion years ago, and that worked out great ! Water quality in the lake has never been very good. The lake must be undergoing a controlled fish kill right now. The water has been drawn down, and there were lots of dead carp. Hopefully this kill will help clear up the lake to attract kayakers and paddleboarders. All the dead fish right now must be attracting bald eagles, because I was able to count more than a dozen in trees around the lake. Had a blast watching them !!
