I’ve been to this restaurant several times and it’s a unique place to dine in, specially if you’re taking visitors to Oakland to meet the cathedral of learning and its surroundings. There’s a reasonable food variety in their menu, including gluten free choices (including bun for sandwiches). My four-star review is related to my most recent visit, which we did during a holiday for lunch. The place was crowded and disorganized, something expected for the prime hours and day. However, I think the restaurant needs some organization to better manage the high influx of customers without putting its quality in jeopardy. If you want a better experience, visit it out of rush hours.

The food is delicious! Very clean restaurant and great staff. Beautiful place to eat especially during the summer with the great scenery at the outdoor seating.

Overall this place has friendly and efficient service. We were given the table by the bathrooms and surprisingly it was okay. We got two appetizers the shrimp fritters and corn bread muffins with apple butter and cranberry jam. Amazing! My son had the salmon and I had the steak. These were somewhat disappointing. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t good. The dishes lacked flavor and appeal. My steak was over potatoes which were called tots. There was a lot of fat to have to cut around and again lacked any flavor. If I had to redo my order I would’ve just ordered all appetizers and skipped the main entree. I gave 4 stars because our hostess and waiter were so attentive. Our appetizers rocked. It was just the main entrees that need some work.

All the food was excellent, but the Brussels sprouts were definitely the best part. Sorry we ate them all before I got my camera out. But believe me, they were perfection. They were sold out of salmon and fried green tomatoes, but the service was great and we really enjoyed the food. We’ll be back to try the salmon and tomatoes. Love the outdoor seating and location! Good vibes :) The creme brûlée is one of the best I’ve had!

You should call the Porch directly for call current specials.
Masks whenever not seated at table, socially distant tables. Very clean place. One of the best smelling public bathrooms!!!
I believe they could, yes. I recommend calling to ask.
There's plenty of street parking around Schenly Plaza and the cathedral.
