When working with an agent, what should I NOT tell them?

A real estage agent must never share confidential client information with others. I don't need to know everything, such as a person's earnings or savings. In that regard, an agent only needs to know how much home a buyer can afford based on the lender's written opinion. Did you know all real estate agents are NOT Realtors (R)? As a Realtor, I agree to follow an oath that includes the following statement: "The obligation of REALTORS® to preserve confidential information (as defined by state law) provided by their clients in the course of any agency relationship or non-agency relationship recognized by law continues after termination of agency relationships or any non-agency relationships recognized by law."

Can Realtors give advice?

Yes. Realtors can provide guidance as it relates to the buying and selling of real estate - but are not permitted to practice law. They can also provide contact details for vendors, mortgage lenders, contractors, home inspectors, landscapers and more.

When should I begin working with a real estate agent/broker?

That's a great question. Many buyers (and some sellers) contact brokers when they see a home they want to visit. We can help then but it would be much better to have started the home-buying process together much earlier. Real estate professionals are not only trained in writing buyer offers and showing homes. They can help explain the complex process from the beginning - even before starting to search for homes. The sooner a buyer agrees to work with a broker the better!

Can I stop by the office on 4th Ave. N. at KOMO Plaza to ask questions?

While the office is open every day, we ask that all visitors call in advance to make an appointment. We welcome email, phone call and video conference calls almost anytime but I prefer that we schedule an in-person appointment to prepare a meeting room for safety reasons. Masks and sanitizers are available on-site.
