Charleston Harbor has multiple docks to fish and crab off of. The front half has a lot of commercial fishing vessels but you can still crab/fish off the dock, a few docks have cleaning stations.. free.. just clean up after yourself, the other side further down has more local boats and tour boats.. people fish for herring off those docks and the water is always full of fish. The fishermen and captains are usually always nice and boats aren't running but before season they are prepping. It's a public dock so it's free to pull up a chair, bring your cooler and enjoy! Just find the dock you like.. we always went to the first one. There's a great restaurant/bar that has a bunch of info about the fishermen and area right in front of the docks. Oregon State Marine research is around the corner with their sleeping quarters.. US Coast guard has a big place there too.. We would take beer and soda and chill. The corner store at Cape Arago Hwy before you turn to the docks has the cheapest bait.. in the coolers.. also has good munchies and snacks. 🙌💯 Hope that helps clear up info!

It's Charleston. Good boat launch, clean bathrooms, but if you get out of your vehicle make sure ya lock it up. Because your stuff will become, there stuff. You be rollen away thinking, "I had a jacket just like that" That's because you did. Now they do.

Great place for crabbing and watching marine life. There are alot of great fishing charter places near by, some nice places to eat as well. Please be mindful and respectful to the working fishing boats. If you've come here to crab on the docks, keep in mind this area is not 24hr public usage. Currently open dawn to dusk, but always check the signs to be sure. Security will remove any crab pots left to soak overnight, so don't do it. There are fish/crab cleaning stations and the head of the docks, plus Basin Tackle is just a short walk across the parking lot if you need ice or bait. Life jackets are available for adults and children near the restrooms.

I love going crabbing off the pier. I catch a few Dungeness but the majority are Red Rock which to me taste sweeter.
