I was excited to book this tour based on the many positive reviews and wish we had the same positive experience. We took my dad and stepmom for my dad's 85th birthday. Our guide, Rich was pleasant and knowledgable. Our family of 5 (4 adults and one 11-year-old) was combined with 8 other passengers for a three-hour tour. A "personalized" tour is not possible as the group as a whole decides what stops to make. Not all of the stops listed on the Troyer's Amish Tours website were given to us as options by Rich. We sat in the parking lot of the Amish Mennonite Center where the tour leaves for 22 minutes past the tour start time of 10am. Rich gave lots of information during that time, which could have easily been discussed while we were driving. This rushed the tour a bit and delayed our time. We had an additional bathroom stop and received a complimentary custard. We were late leaving there as some of the others in the group lingered a bit longer at that stop. A tour guide should be on top of that and round people up to keep a schedule, particularly when traveling with multiple groups. Because of these delays, we only saw 2 of the 3 selected stops. Rich gave us the business card of the stop we had selected to visit and suggested we visit on our own sometime. The tour was not as described and the experience was not what we paid for. It would not be something I would recommend to others based on our experience.
