We stopped in at New Kent Winery on our way back from Richmond. Having been out with family from out of town, I was hoping for a relaxed and comfortable place to unwind. Coming in, we were asked if we had reservations (which we didn’t consider would be needed). We were given a ticket for the back tent and left to our own to figure things out. I soon discovered that wine, beer and food would be ordered at the bar and self carried to the table. *You can’t open a tab and, with each swipe, are “offered” a minimum tip range of 18% and up. The back porch area had two things going on: a mix of loud, drunk Karen’s and Romper Room (table full of kiddos and their toys). The menu was attractive but we couldn’t let things go on. A short visit.

The four of us were sent out to the tent. There were several groups that were enjoying themselves.....with children under five. The noise was impossible to handle, so we left. My take on this experience? Don't put adults without children in that habitat. Its toxic. It's not enjoyable. And it's killed my experience here. The plus??? The White Merlot was very nice.

Needs better bathroom facilities. When we visited it was a busy Saturday in February, both the front porch & the back porch and the Production Hall were pretty much full. There had to have been a good 300 people at the Winery that day, which is great to see! We enjoyed both the wine and the beer. The kitchen was running out of some of the food options so I had to revise my order twice. They also couldn't offer a Flights of beer or wine, I'm assuming because they didn't have the glasses and kitchen facilities to accommodate the volume. There was a solo singer named Junior (something), he was great! But there is only 2 bathroom stalls in the women's restroom and there was a constant line 4-5+ people waiting plus the toilets are not made for commercial use. A facility of that size needs some better restrooms for that size of crowd or maybe have some luxury porta-potties outside. Loved the winery, I just hope they can upgrade their kitchen and bathrooms to better accommodate their patrons.

Wines were great! Couldnt keep our wine tasting glasses which was different than most winery experiences. Service was even better. The bees and flies were in full attack on the back patio. We enjoyed the brunch board with sparkling wine.

The closest one to winery is Vintager Inn
The sweet virginia (sold by the bottle) is the sweetest wine they offer
Hi Susan, Our food policy can be found on the top of our calendar page where all of our events are listed. We made this change a few months ago and posted it on our social media channels as well. I'm sorry to hear this change has upset you. We will discuss our outside food policy with our team. Thank you!
We are open for glass, bottle, carafe, and food sales day from 11AM - 6PM. We are unfortunately not able to offer tastings again just yet. Thanks!
You can have dogs on a leash outside on the property. They have beautiful patios
They are pet friendly, they are allowed on the patio and on the grounds but not inside/tasting room!
Hi Jim, Since we are a small business, we have to keep our staff size in mind when creating our schedule. Our normal hours are 11am - 6pm but we do stay open later on many Fridays and Saturdays through the summer, like we will tomorrow evening for our Country Night. We hope that as we grow our team, we will be able to accommodate later hours in the evenings. Thank you for your thoughts!
The next karaoke night is on March 29th. We had one in December and it was a lot of fun! We hope you can attend!
