They ran my credit report without my permission, then refused my Visa Navy Federal debit card. I had five times the funds, security needed to rent & cash on hand but was denied due to no credit cards. Is this the way of life now where real cash holds no value? Smh

I came here b/c I was stranded at Norfolk international airport (they ran out of cars despite my reservation for one). They charged me $400 for a full size rental for one day and then had the nerve to say I needed a $300 deposit as well. Denied!!! and customer service sucks here. I walked in frazzled and the front desk clerk was RUDE AS HELL!!! I walked right out.

Let me begin with the positive. I have no issue with the local staff as they went above and beyond during my rental process which had to be extended. They were very pleasant and helpful and I am grateful for the help they gave me. My issueis with Hertz customer support. Hertz failed me and many other customers the week of Jan 3rd 2022. Hertz closed all their locations at three different location redirecting customers at each location to the other two location which were also close. As a result, we could not return our vehicles and were left talking on the phone for hours, stranded, or forced many miles out of our way to a drop off location. Only solution, was to use their Roadside Assistance and dispute the charge. Fortunately, they waived the RA fee and picked up my vehicle...but that was not Hertz, it was their 3rd party vendor for the towing company. Hertz did not offer any compensation and the experience was quite frustrating and painful. Someone had to know that these locations were closing and they made no attempt to resolve it in advance. I feel for the employees who lost their job showing up to work only to be turned away. The local staff on the other hand was very pleasant and helpful and worked with me during my rental. Be very cautious if renting from Hertz. Subtract my mandatory 1 star to no stars.

I made a reservation for a cargo van six days in advance. Hertz in Newport News called me the night before I was scheduled to pick up the cargo van and informed me it was no longer available. When I informed them that I took off of work and made reservations contingent on being able to use the van, they made absolutely no effort to correct the situation. They even refused to substitute another vehicle at the same rate even though they broke our agreement. They told me to check with surrounding Hertz locations for another van. When I told them that I don't own a car and that traveling to another Hertz location would cause me an undue hardship, they did not care.

Believe they do. I live in in Dover DE, picked up rental in NN to get home after totaling my car.
