We took our Daughter to get a Birthday bear today. She turns 3 tomorrow. The girl at the register was friendly and answered all our questions. Because of the amazing birthday special, it cost us $3 allowing her to pick an outfit. She chose Baby Yoda Jammie’s. The girl (Crystal I think) was so amazing!! She was happy and made our experience special. Our daughter used the pedal to fill the bear. Me and my husband were prompted to give the birthday heart kisses. Then she had our daughter rub it on the bears chest for love in the heart, the nose for loving kisses and the arm for loving hugs. Then she was able to place the heart inside the bear and “make a wish”. Over all, a great and fun experience.

I think Crystal is your name and I just wanna say thank you🥰 you were amazing!. -My grandma came to visit from Mexico and she doesn’t speak English, Crystal spoke Spanish to her! She made her feel like a little kid and just made that experience 10000000000000x better! We are still talking today about how sweet she was. Thank you so much for making our experience even as adults so much fun and for being so sweet🤍

My KIDS loved it, because they're oblivious and it was their birthday and they got to make a stuffy!!! But as the parents, we felt it was very awkward and uncomfortable. Totally missed the mark for me. We went on a very not-busy Wednesday. Two young adults were working the shop who don't seem to like kids....or, at least, have a very impractical idea of how young kids should behave in a toy store on their birthday. One employee was stern and fussy. I heard some sighs, some eye rolls as she followed the kids around refolding things the kids barely touched. We were careful to not let the young ones break things or misplace things and rehung up things they took off the rack, etc. I do have one youngster with ADHD, and she's quite impulsive. As her parents, we work very hard to reign her in and support her, but she is who she is. tsktsktsking doesn't change her behavior. She was overstimulated by the end of the event, and dad took her outside the shop to recollect but the other employee (who was much more patient with the kids than the other employee throughout most of the experience) acted miffed that she couldn't "gift the bear" to her. It was just weird and all very tone deaf. I also felt kind of shamed for not having limitless funds to buy allllll the accessories recommended by staff (come on, 2 pairs of shoes AND roller skates for the unicorn? That's like $60 right there!). I mentioned "what the heck! it's our one big time here at build a bear!" When the kids wanted the $1 box at the end. The employee said something like "oh, ok, your ONE time here then" in a sarcastic tone. Like, yeah, this experience kinda sucks AND it's very expensive. Basically, instead of feeling like my kids were treated to a special $140 birthday experience that we had been building up excitement over, it felt like we were bothering the two young adults who "curate" their shop for people who actually have PERFECT children. unlike our rag tag mess of a bunch. I'm open to trying again... maybe. I'm on the fence. Probably not though.

Great customer service and employees were definitely kid friendly to make the experience extra special. The kids will love getting to pick their bears and walk over to the filling station. The employees had them squeeze their bears to make sure they were fluffy enough or too firm. They then get to brush the bears to make sure they’re groomed before going home but, don't forget to go make their birth certificates and pick out outfits. Lots of fun varieties to choose from.
