My wife and I decided it was time to look for a new church. We wanted something local to where we live so that we could be involved with the community more than on Sundays. The plan was to try a few churches for about 3 weeks each and see where we fit. We had friends that had attended the church over the years and heard good things about it. This church started in a movie theatre many years ago and has since moved into a building that looks like a traditional church. They have 2 places to worship (in addition to online). Upstairs is the main service but they have a more open room downstairs where families who want to stay together can worship without feeling the need to rein in their kids as much (they do have all sorts of age based kids programs). We started towards the end (will it ever really end?) of Covid and I think people were still afraid a bit about meeting and greeting newcomers. We were greeted by Dave and Muriel who made us feel welcome and further introduced us to others. We enjoyed the worship which is a combination or new contemporary Christian worship songs and Hymns played with contemporary instruments. For us, a very enjoyable mixture. If I had to say one thing stands out, it is the preaching. Clearly the best preaching I have had in my 60 plus years. They have 2 pastors, Ezra and Keith who preach verse by verse from the Bible. They also allow their elders to preach from time to time in part, to prepare them for church plantings. They mention giving but it is mentioned minimally, so if you feel churches are all out to get your money, Riverside is not like that. My wife and I were invited to join some discipleship groups and because of my wife's schedule, nothing fit so one of the women there met with her on line individually. To me, that was amazing. Riverside is not an inwardly focused church. While they care about the spiritual growth of their members and attenders, they also care about the local community and the world community at large. They support a number of local organizations as well as international organizations, both big and small. We have been attending for almost a year and feel at home here. We feel we are growing, "being fed" and making friends. Now it is time for us to start to give back. We love this church and recommend you give it a shot.

Questions & Answers

What is your style of worship? Is this a denominational church? Is it liturgical? Do people carry their Bibles to this church? Do you do all hymns or do you do contemporary music? Do people lift their hands? Is there midwk service?

Hi Mary! The worship at Riverside is contemporary (guitars, keyboards, bass, drums). Our church is associated with the Southern Baptist Convention for missions work, church planting, disaster relief and seminaries. Our service is not formal or liturgical. Most people do carry their Bibles to church and we preach expository sermons through books of the Bible. Response in worship is varied - some people do raise their hands and worship with enthusiasm. Others are more reserved. All are welcome. We have 2 services on Sunday mornings. We gather during the week in community groups and Bible studies. Some meet at the church and others meet in people's homes but there is no midweek service at the church. Our desire is for people to see the incredible hope and truth that is found in Jesus Christ as revealed through scripture and to have their lives transformed by the gift of grace, forgiveness and salvation. I hope that you'll come visit us some Sunday!

Do you have in person service I don't like zoom service or on line it's not the same in my view. I'm covid free and vaccinated

Hello Ken! Thanks for reaching out. Yes - we have a couple of options for in person gathering and we'd love for you to join us this weekend. On Saturday evenings we meet at 6pm for an outdoor service in the church parking lot. Masks are not required for this service. The music and message are the same as the Sunday service. On Sunday morning, we meet at 10am indoors in the church Sanctuary. We are back at full seating capacity, but are asking everyone to continue to wear masks while indoors until June 28th, or sooner if the state removes the mask mandate before then. Thanks for reaching out and we hope to see you at an upcoming service!
