Lessons with Dana improve my well being more than just about anything else. I used to have frequent neck and shoulder pain (those oh so common knots) and rotating running related aches, but working with Dana has made them far less frequent and improved by overall stability. Alexander Technique is difficult to describe, but every time I work with Dana I feel lighter, have more ease, and my quality of life improves. While pregnant, working with Dana was the best relief for my aches. I would carry visibly differently after working with her, she helped me create so much space and support for the baby. With a broken body postpartum, Dana helps me rebuild structure and stability- healing diastasis recti and reforming healthy movement habits. Dana helps activate muscles and whole systems that were lost to me during pregnancy. I have tried massage (enjoyable), acupuncture (less enjoyable), chiropractor (mixed), but nothing is as reliable as AT lessons with Dana: I feel good during the process and better afterward! Dana is beyond talented. She's somehow able to listen to your body, intuit things you're not yet aware of, and find just the right way to help you.

Dana is truly a master Alexander Technique teacher. I work with her both privately and in group class settings. In each she presents you with an inviting and SAFE environment to explore. In her bio she states that her “greatest work value is facilitating students’ experiences to bravely uncover deep layers of themselves.” She does just that. Through both her hands on work (the best I’ve experienced) and her verbal guidance I’ve been able to inhabit my body more and more in an easeful way thus allowing me to find more of who I am as a human being and how I navigate through the world. Both physically and mentally I am more at ease when stimulating experiences present themselves – if I’m not, I have the freedom to choose whether I want to respond in an habitual way or if I want to make a new choice. Working with Dana in a class setting has changed the way I define acting and approach the work. She presents the group with fundamental AT ideas that create a playful learning environment of growth and exploration. When she works one on one with you in front of the class, she really caters to you in that moment with that piece. Finding YOU in the piece, not a generic wash of what the piece “should be.” I have, personally, found more depth in my work and range / resonance in my vocal abilities after working with her.

Dana is a great Alexander Technique teacher! I've been studying AT off and on with another teacher for the last 4 years and decided to take a Basics AT class with her to get another point of view. Every class I learned something new and tangible to play with that deepened my understanding of the Alexander Technique and helped me be more present both in my acting and my daily life.

I can't thank Dana enough for caring about my scoliosis and helping me through from an Alexander Technique perspective. I just completed my much dreaded spinal X-ray since Alexander Technique with Dana and I just wanted to share. For years, I had a curve of 39-42 degrees varying between checkups, but today the X-ray showed 33 degrees! A few degrees can be chalked up to how you’re standing that day, but a 6-9 degree decrease is not variance. My doctor was astonished by the improvement, he was asking “what’re they teaching you?!” Thank you for everything Dana! I can’t believe I was ready to get spinal surgery before! I know that through AT I might be able to change it myself without the surgery. I hope to work together again in the future!

Lessons are dependent on your experience and interests. If you have a particular activity you'd like help with (like playing an instrument, typing at your computer, etc.) we will work with it. There will be some restful time on a massage table in which I give you hands-on guidance to release and connect to yourself.
