I golfed with a group of 20 today. Not all of our foursomes were able to finish due to running out of daylight and it did not seem like the danger on the course attempted to do anything to speed up play. Every single shot we had to wait at least 5-10 minutes before hitting the next shot. I understand that the course was busy, but a good ranger is able to push things forward and clear up space, in every attempt to allow all groups to finish 18 holes. It ended up being a 5 hour round of golf, rather than the recommended 4. Be aware if you play here, it will be a long day of golf. The most disappointing part, as this is far from the first time we have played here, was the condition of the course. The greens were is really rough shape and expect a lot better quality from a course like Lighthouse. There were a number of dead patches on the green that even made it hard to find a good line to the hole, without putting through them. The staff is very friendly, specifically the starters, the cart girl, etc. she was especially happy because our group gave exact change and she was limited on smaller bills. This was just not the experience we have come to expect when playing the golf course and it without a doubt, a premiere facility. It just seems like some things need to addressed and cleaned up to being the course back to its prestige.

The course was ok but the pace of play was unbearable. Starters skipped over our tee time. We had a group of 6 and 2 groups of 5 in front of us playing incredibly slow. Course put way too many people out, too close together. Took 4 hours to play 14 holes and we were unable to finish as it got dark. Not worth $129. Won't be back. Go to Rum Point instead.

Played Lighthouse on 10/8. 2nd year in a row that the condition was below standard while having to pay for the most expensive Course in Ocean City. Been playing there since it opened in 2000 with it never being like this. Spend your money at Rum Pointe or Baywood Greens.

What an incredible drive into the course. That’s about where I stop. The staff seemed perturbed by the fact that all I wanted to do was hit the driving range. The older gentleman (curmudgeon) at the front desk didn’t even take the time to greet me. I was a bit later coming in 1500 hrs. Well in my book there is still 3 hrs of sunshine left. I had no intention of being there for an extended period of time. I was informed not even an hour after being there that the range closed at 1700. I didn’t even have an idea what time it was. So I asked. 1545 REALLY!!!! Okay so let’s rewind. After the very polite front desk staff wink wink. Took my money I proceeded to the range found it in stage of abuse. I do realize it’s the end the season, but come on. Almost all the ball bags were empty. The condition of the range itself was appalling. I couldn’t find a flat stance or lie I spent the next 15 minutes of my time gathering balls then trying to find grass to hit off of. Due to the fact it is the closest place for me to spend sometime stretching the golf muscles while on a short break, I will be going back. To say the least. Disappointed in the places service. I’m not one to make excuses but I do realize it’s been a long golf year for the course and staff. First impressions could have made up for a lot.
