Wonderful welcoming cafe. Perfect for geeks of all varieties. Creative and delicious coffees and drinks. Tasty food. Highly recommended!

The decorations and (tasty) drinks names give this place a really nice vibe. For people (like me) who requires external stimulation for focus, this provides a perfect amount. People are usually working on their stuff, and there's plenty of cozy places so you do that as well.

This was the worst coffee I’ve ever had. It tasted worse than gas station coffee that’s been sitting for several hours. I ordered a hot drink and a cold drink. The cold drink looked like half had spilled and a thin layer of whip cream was on top. Part of the cup was empty and not filled to the top with whip cream like most places so I was really confused.. i did not ask for room in this coffee. It was also really watered down and I had to throw it out. I ordered an everything bagel which was inedible, I could not bite into it like it was stale?? They asked if we wanted Swiss or cheddar in our sandwich. I said Swiss but got cheddar so idk why it was an option if that wasn’t going to be fulfilled. I’m so disappointed because it’s almost 5 stars but how?? I had to throw away 3 out of 4 items.

How to leave another glowing review of Distant Worlds while accurately describing what makes it such a special place? I guess I'll need to write a novella to try! The coffee is excellent, the geekiness delightful, and the employees are absolutely stellar (shout out to the morning employee J. who made me feel welcome from my first unsure visit over 6 weeks ago, and continues to be welcoming and friendly and helpful); They host pop up food makers such as grayseas pies, and host comedy open mics and various meetup groups; They are COVID-19 conscious and clean; It's a queer and woman owned local business that fights for social change, equity, respect, awareness, and diversity; The allergy friendly everything is so very helpful, and I'm sure the particularity about being nut free is also very helpful to many; They display and sell many kinds of arts and crafts with an eclectic geeky vibe I absolutely adore, and from local artists who get the profits to boot -- including pins, dice mats, games, mugs, greeting cards, prints, and delightful earrings from my newly discovered favorite xyzstyleco; They are on Joe and use Clover which stacks up some nice rewards and adds a nice perk, you know, in case the delicious food and atmosphere haven't wooed you enough; They have two restrooms for customers in case you really have to pee while someone has a press conference in the other bathroom, They're located at a beautiful intersection for two main bus stops; The employees are ready and willing to admit their mistakes and find solutions; There are nerdy games and books and figures and stories and every new customer I've seen has their eyes visibly light up with nerdy joy; And last but not least, every person I've encountered there has led with respect first, which makes the whole event of grabbing some coffee, or kombucha, or pastries, a very special and different experience. Thank you everyone at DW Coffee for the light you share with us! 🧡
