Questions & Answers

What are the benefits of isotonic vitamins and other supplements?

Rockin' Good Health, LLC | Nov 4, 2020
Rockin' Good Health, LLC | Nov 4, 2020

Isotonic vitamins and supplements, like our Nutrametrix® products, are superior to typical vitamins and supplements in pill form. When you mix Nutrametrix® products with the correct amount of water, they are rapidly absorbed, unlike pills or capsules that sit in your stomach for a long time, being attacked by your stomach acid, where they can lose potency. With isotonic vitamins and supplements, you get maximum bio-availability, which means you really get what you pay for. Nutrametrix® covers the full spectrum of vitamins, minerals, and herbal supplements. You can customize your nutraceuticals to meet your specific goals, with their online Nutri-Physical at nutrametrix.com/rockingoodhealth.

Yes! We feature essential oils by Best of Nature, and we've got a great selection of single-note essential oils, and essential oil blends. Our diffusers by Nature's Remedy, GreenAir, and Serene Living, range from 100 sq. ft. capacity, for your car or bedroom, to 1000 sq. ft, for a full living area. Do you do prenatal massage?

Rockin' Good Health, LLC | Nov 4, 2020
Rockin' Good Health, LLC | Nov 4, 2020

If you are a healthy pregnant woman with no known complications, I am happy to work with you. I offer accommodations, including side-lying massage, and additional pillows, to make your massage comfortable at any point in your pregnancy. As of this date, I have not taken additional continuing education in prenatal massage, beyond my Massage Therapist certification training. However, I am aware of important concerns and contraindications for massage during pregnancy. I believe that most healthy women can tolerate a gentle massage, with appropriate adaptations, without significant risk. If you are at all concerned, I encourage you to find a therapist with specific certification in prenatal massage.

Can you help with fibromyalgia?

Rockin' Good Health, LLC | Nov 4, 2020
Rockin' Good Health, LLC | Nov 4, 2020

I have a number of clients with fibromyalgia, and I have had good results providing them with temporary relief. The massage we do on a given day will depend on how you're feeling. I've had clients who request very (very very) gentle massage when they're having a flare-up, and others who need a vigorous, firm massage to chase away the pain. Either extreme is available, and everything between. The important thing is that we talk, to determine the best massage for you today.

Can you improve my range of motion?

Rockin' Good Health, LLC | Nov 4, 2020
Rockin' Good Health, LLC | Nov 4, 2020

Honestly, the answer depends on the reason for your decreased range of motion. I have some basic tests that help me understand if the issue is muscular, or possibly a problem with the joint itself. If the problem is muscular, then there's a good chance I can help. The key is for us to work together at the start of the session, to identify what may be going on, so I can focus on the right muscles. If I don't think I can help, and especially if I think there may be a problem in the joint itself, I'll let you know. Of course, I'm not a doctor, so in these cases we will be extra cautious, and I may recommend that you speak with a doctor, rather than chance making anything worse.

Can you focus on specific aches and pains?

Rockin' Good Health, LLC | Nov 4, 2020
Rockin' Good Health, LLC | Nov 4, 2020

Of course I can! There are some common pain patterns that I see a lot -- neck pain, shoulder pain, low back pain -- and there are massage techniques for every one of them. When we first meet, we'll plan your massage to address your goals. Often, I can take care of those achy spots in the course of a full body massage. Sometimes, it makes more sense to skip the nicey-nicey massage, and focus in on just the main thing. We'll figure out what works best for you, and I'll do my best to help you feel better leaving than when you arrived.

What types of massage do you do?

Rockin' Good Health, LLC | Nov 4, 2020
Rockin' Good Health, LLC | Nov 4, 2020

I'm always learning new styles and techniques, so, rather than focus on modalities, I prefer to focus on results. I use the right tool for the job, and that'll depend on your goals. I describe my main massages as: Relaxing, Invigorating, and Therapeutic. For a Relaxing massage, I'll use techniques from Swedish, Esalen, and Lomilomi styles, and my pace will be quite slow. For an Invigorating massage, I'll pick up the pace a bit, add some stretching, tapping, and other techniques to raise your energy. For a therapeutic massage, I'll focus on specific muscles associated with the issues you describe, and I'll use tools like neuromuscular and trigger-point therapy, even cupping, to reduce your pain and restore range of motion, where possible.

Do you use lotion, oil, or...?

Rockin' Good Health, LLC | Nov 4, 2020
Rockin' Good Health, LLC | Nov 4, 2020

I generally use a high quality massage lotion. You may select unscented, lavender, or a mint/eucalyptus/pine scent, all included with your massage. If you like, we also have Deluxe Aromatherapy Lotion available, in an 8 oz. take-home pump bottle, with a variety of essential oil blends. I also have available a plain blend of coconut and jojoba oils, or a coconut-vanilla scented oil, if you prefer that to lotion. You may always request no lotion or oil, or specify areas where these should not be used.

What lengths of time are available for massage?

Rockin' Good Health, LLC | Nov 4, 2020
Rockin' Good Health, LLC | Nov 4, 2020

For general massage (relaxing, invigorating, therapeutic) we offer 30, 60, and 90 minute massage sessions. That's time on the table, as long as you're here early enough to start the massage at the scheduled time. Unlike the massage chains, our hour is not 50 minutes! For manual lymph drainage, we offer "localized" work (typical post-liposuction) that takes about 30 minutes, and "full body MLD" that takes about 60 minutes. You should plan for an extra 30 minutes on your first lymph drainage appointment, for consultation.
