Zero stars is appropriate. Worse fees of any and when you are sick of them they charge you $500 to close your account. Nothing you can do as they will only withdraw all of your money but $500. If you like losing $1000's of dollars go with them. I am sorry I was ver knew them..

I read many of the reviews before writing this review myself - just to put things in perspective. I have worked with provident on a number of transactions over about 5 years. I was "absorbed" into provident before that from my previous smaller trust company. That transition was seamless and just fine. Since then, after many calls and many email transactions, I will say that I am OK with Provident and how they have handled things. Yes, their phone reps many times seem to be lacking experience and knowledge on first interactions, but if you keep pressing and asking questions, they generally get the answers after talking to their inside managers and 2nd level support. Counter point - I think that newbies to IRAs and how they work may be very frustrated because of their inexperience, but if you are educated and know what's right and needed, you can get it done here. They do seem to be very centered on getting things done CORRECTLY..... if not quickly. I have had a number of complex transactions and they have been completed properly - with attention, questioning, and prodding from me. On fees - yes, there are significant fees, but they aren't totally unjustifiable. If your portfolio is significant, I think the cost is justified. If you only have a small portfolio you may consider the fees out of proportion. I will stay with Provident for now. Serves my purposes.

This bunch is absolutely terrible. They have managed to attach fees to any and all transactions possible. Also their fee structure is exorbitant. So glad I can finally cash out and close out my account....which by the way means more outrageous fees. Which I could give them a zero star rating.

As an agent for alternative asset opportunities in self-directed IRA's, I have over 30 clients with thier self-directed IRA's under the custodianship of Provident Trust Group. The set up is easy, fees are clearly communicated and are less than other custodiuns. (yes, I have some clients with other custodiuns also). The transfer process is handed professionally and after years of experience with Provident and so many clients in involved there, I have not had ANY complaints. I handle the transfers, several week, for my clients, and Provident is very straighforward and professional in thier processes. The negative reviews are baffling, don't make any sence to me as someone who deals with Provident on a daily basis and in high quantity of clients.
