This was my third stay, but I found out that there are new owners since I had been there last time. My previous visits were very pleasant, but this one wasn’t. I couldn’t get ahold of anyone at the desk two times to let them know I couldn’t get Wi-Fi, the hot tub wasn’t working both days and the worst thing was their cot was like sleeping straight on springs and the sheet on the cot had blood stains and food crumbs on them, the gross part is that we didn’t see them right away and my daughter slept on them. When reported, I felt like they were calling me a liar. I am hoping this is a one time deal, but it makes me leery about staying there again.

I have stayed here several times over the last couple of years and have never had a problem, however this last weekend (Feb 11th to 12th stay 2022.) I was woken up at 10:45pm by someone trying to enter my room. The front desk had given my room number and key to someone else that night. Luckily, I had the extra security latch engaged on the door or they would have entered my room (again, I was in bed and definitely not clothed appropriately). When I brought this to the front desk's notice (as did the other guests), I was offered a discounted rate (small discount considering that my sleep was interrupted and I had to hold the door closed as the other guest kept trying to enter the room.) I had to call the location to get them to make good on the discount since they charged me full price. I understand that mistakes can be made - however, if I had not been in the room at the time with the security latch engaged things could have gone much more horribly wrong. I'm giving one star since other than the attempted entry into my room, the hotel is clean and I've not had any other issues beside this. I really am questioning whether I will stay here or any other Wyndham properties again.

The American by Wyndham is a lovely place to stay in Algona. I don't know about the other hotels but this one has a great pool and hot tub. The receptionist was amazing. She made sure that we had everything we needed for our stay to be enjoyable. They have a really great hot breakfast. Would definitely recommend.
