I was shopping not too far away and asked the clerk what was good to eat nearby. He pointed me to Ixtapalapa Taqueria. Bottom line: I was not at all disappointed. Definitely the right place for authentic tacos. Based on the menu and the customers I saw, it caters almost exclusively to the local Hispanic community. They were doing brisk business on an ordinary Tuesday at almost 9pm. I can understand why; the place isn’t fancy but it’s clean and bright and cheerful and the food is great. I got a fish taco and a couple different beef tacos (one with beef tongue) and they were all delicious. The horchata was a nice way to wash it down. I’ve eaten there twice more since that first visit and it’s been good every time. It’s always busy, so I suggest avoiding peak hours if you want a table and easy parking.
