It has trains, which is important for a train station to have.

Camp Lake, Grass Lake, and the Chain o' Lakes? Wonderful access to all that is via Fox Lake to the west on this line from here. This station also has direct access to the North Shore areas to the southeast and downtown Chicago further south.

Questions & Answers

Where do you pay for the parking for one day?

I haven't used the Metra or it's parking lot since the pandemic began, but it used to be $1.75. It's an old school pay box, where you put the money in the slot for the space you're in. There are no machines, no credit card options, and no way to get change, so bring exactly $1.75.

Is weekend parking free?

I don't think so. It is probably the same price as the weekday ($1.75 per day accord to the Grayslake village website).

Where do you go to seek monthly parking at Grayslake train depot? Is there a discount?

I think you have to apply for a Metra PrePay parking at the Grayslake Village hall. It is said to be $35 for 1 month according to the Grayslake village website. For the application, you can either physically go to the village hall or mail the completed registration form. The registration form and more information can be found on the same website. I am not sure if there is a discount there.
