Pianoforte is an extraordinary store. Thomas, the owner, has enormous integrity and knowledge of pianos. The prices are absolutely reasonable. I have bought two pianos from Pianoforte and recommend it wholeheartedly. You can trust Thomas’ honor and word.

I bought a beautiful 2007 Yamaha CC1 back in December 2021 through Pianoforte. The experience could not have been better! I started my search more than a year ago in early 2020. During that time, I visited the showroom to play the different pianos. While there were many I loved, a global pandemic was starting and I wasn't quite ready to make a purchase. Flash forward more than a year later, after looking at other local dealers I found myself back at Pianoforte. To my pleasant surprise, the staff remembered me, unprompted, from my previous visit over a year ago. Throughout the selection process I was never rushed and Thomas was very patient with all of my questions. I described my budget and what I was looking for. Unfortunately, the piano that best met my needs and budget was not on the showfloor. Over the next few weeks, Thomas graciously helped me identify a contender in his inventory but that was in storage. Once it was finally on the showroom floor, I was able to play it and get a feel for it. Throughout the whole process, I never felt rushed or pushed to buy any of the pianos. Instead, I got the impression that here was an authentic person truly trying to find the best instrument for me within or under my budget. This stuck out to me as the other dealers I visited, who I won't name but were more suburban (both northern and western), seemed more focused on selling the status of a brand or particular look while continuously trying to push up my budget. At Pianoforte, the experience was so different. It was all about finding the right fit and that meant playing all kinds of beautiful pianos, both second hand and new. Thomas really wanted me to get to know each instrument before making my choice. In the end, I bought a barely played but meticulously maintained 2007 GC1. I'm sure it has been played more in the 5 months I've owned it than it had in the past 15 years. The tone is lovely and the action is like butter. The piano is not only a delight to play but it is stunning! Its very presence just invites you to sit down and play for a few hours. If you're in search of a piano and want help from someone who really cares about the homes their instruments go to, I highly recommend Pianoforte.

Questions & Answers

Lioking for recommendations on where i can donate a Baldwin piano?

Beverly Mitchell | Nov 3, 2021
PianoForte Chicago | Nov 3, 2021

Sorry but we cant help at the moment. Too many pianos are being donated…

Do you take piano donations? Specifically, a KIMBALL grand, recently retuned, in excellent condition.

Leenie G | Nov 3, 2021
PianoForte Chicago | Nov 3, 2021

Unfortunately only rarely. It mostly depends on the condition of the piano and what recipients we might have in the pipeline. You can submit a form on our website with pictures of your piano and we will respond right away. We are lacking recipients for pianos at the moment and all schools are closing for the summer. We can only take in pianos that we can donate further, after some technical work, to schools, non-profits, etc.

Hi! I want to bring someone here early on a Sunday to pick out a piano. Is it allowed to play the different pianos a bit? Probably won't be buying that very day, but sometime in the near future for a home. Thanks for helping!

Hello! We open at noon on Sunday. Yes, you are welcome to play different pianos to familiarize yourself with the differences. We'll be there to guide you of course. Thank you, Thomas Zoells
