Came on a weekend with my child - a security offered me a guest pass because she didn't think I had my regular card on me which was a kind gesture. A kids librarian checked on us and answered our questions about finding books. Bathrooms were clean. Circulation staff was helpful. I'm coming back.

I was surprisingly comfortable, with the table arrangement in the computer lab. Big and spacious...

I have never been to a more ghetto and loud library in my life. The lady that works there by the computers on the 1st floor was on her phone and laughing all loud. I have always respected the quiet of the library with minimal distractions. I didn't even finish doing what I needed to do I was so ready to get out of there

I would suggest the BEST way to get acquainted with services the library offers, is to go there. Polite and competent staff are ready to serve you.

Can I come in and use a computer and printer without having a library card?

Yes. You just tell the librarian you want to go online, and they'll give you a guest pass to go on. Though if you live in Chicago, I'd STRONGLY recommend getting a CPL library card.
