I have been using hearing aids for quite a few years, and Ontario Hearing is top notch in every way- Andrea has been wonderful in terms of her caring, knowledge, and service. If you think you have hearing issues, I would recommend this place as tops in all respects.

Our experience with Dr McNamara was amazing. He is one of the very few doctors that perform REM (real ear measurements) , when fitting the new hearing aid. This is key to getting the potential out of your device. You could have a high quality hearing aid, but NOT have it adjusted and fine tuned to your specific needs, and the result would be no where near what you want. I brought someone who was very sceptical that his severe hearing loss could be improved due to his tinnitus, but with Dr. McNamara 's effort, his knowledge and obvious enthusiasm for what he can do for his patients... It's a new world. I can't thank Dr McNamara enough.

I had purchased hearing aids at a business in the Rochester area and was not happy or satisfied with the service. I was referred to Ontario Hearing Center by a friend and I am very pleased with the professional service and exceptional patient care! They take the time, are available for support, and go above and beyond to make sure that patients are receiving the best possible care and are completely satisfied with the products they purchase from the moment you walk into the office. The Audiologist serving me and my needs is Dr Andrea Segmund - she's the best! I highly recommend Ontario Hearing Center of Brighton for all of your hearing aid needs and service!

Impressed with care I have received from Ontario Hearing. Staff is friendly. Office is clean and conveniently located. Scheduling is easy and have always been seen in a timely manner. Drs. Mcnamara and Segmond perform thorough exams and explain their findings in an understandable, professional manner. Thanks to their compassionate care,a world of many beautiful sounds has been opened to me.

A hearing test should involve a comprehensive history questionnaire, otoscopic examination, pure tone air/bone conduction testing, speech discrimination test in quiet and in noise and immittance testing to determine middle ear function. At minimum!
Normal hearing is 0dBHL for all frequencies tested - acceptable ranges can be anywhere between 0-20DBHL however with children and individuals in environments requiring good listening skills amplification can be very helpful.
If the hearing test is offered for free, then the main objective is to get you in their door to try to sell you hearing aids. Consumer beware - that should be the first indicator that you will be pressured to buy.
The cost of a hearing test varies depending on geographic location. It can range from $65.00 to over $100.00 Most health insurances cover portions of the test if provided by a qualified audiologist.
Doctor of audiology indicates a professional in the field of audiology that has completed a minimum 3-year post-graduate degree with a 4th-year externship - either Ph.D. or Au.D. degree. They are not medical physicians.
Cotton swabs are not recommended because they generally push more wax into the ear canal rather than removing (like packing a musket) - there are also many cases of scratched ear canal walls and potential bacteria infection or punctured eardrums.
Absolutely!!!! The important factor in successful hearing aid fittings is the professional doing the fitting. It is a process involving many components, not a product. If the hearing aid was the end all, then you could successfully purchase from online and save a lot of money.
Hearing aids are not covered by Medicare EVER.
There isn’t a “best” manufacturer- a lot depends on the needs of the individuals hearing loss and what features exist in a product. Our company refuses to be exclusive to any 1 manufacturer because we believe it limits our options for choosing the appropriate hearing aid for an individual.
Depending on the type of hearing loss, the degree of hearing loss and personal lifestyle needs, hearing aids can vary from $800.00 to $2800.00.
