Very disappointed felt that Olivia was not taking my situation seriously at all and I've never felt more afraid to tell my story she made it seem like we don't currently need any protection from the abuser even though he's made recent contact with me and made threats. I emailed victim services and the city of wichita where they both let me know the emergency housing voucher program was no discontinued and referral are still accepted.

Really great work that they do here helping survivors, providing resources and more. I left off 2 stars because one of their Outreach people was helpful with resources but seemed to lack any real empathy in her interactions with me. She just seemed cold or maybe too professional, if that makes any sense. Perhaps try to balance it out and show your clients that you empathize and carebto be doing that work without it only being about the work. Other than that, great center to utilize if you need help fleeing or just to vent to someone.

We partner with The Safe Paws Alliance (SPA) Program which provides safe housing to pets of owners who are facing domestic violence. This ensures everyone’s safety and wellbeing, at no cost to the owner. We partner with Wichita Animal Action League (WAAL) as does Harbor House, Midwest Battle Buddies and the Robert J. Dole VA Hospital. This program is available to any person receiving services from the above-mentioned partners. If you need boarding for your pet while you are receiving services, please ask us and we will contact the Wichita Animal Action League. For safety and anonymity reasons, WAAL does not have direct contact with owners. Your identity will always be anonymous. You will not pay anything for your pet while you’re receiving services. You will always be reunited with your pet.
Wichita Family Crisis Center has a variety of volunteer opportunities to fit your time and talents. Indirect volunteers assist with projects behind the scenes that support clients. Indirect volunteer tasks can include sorting donations, cleaning in our shelter, administrative duties, yardwork, and other tasks that indirectly support clients and staff. Indirect volunteering requires a volunteer application and 1-hour of orientation with our Volunteer Coordinator. Direct volunteering is providing a direct service to clients. Direct volunteering can include answering the crisis hotline, assisting clients in shelter, intake paperwork, etc. Direct volunteering requires a volunteer application, KBI Records Check form, DCF Child Abuse Registry Check form, and a 40-hour volunteer advocate training. The 40-hour Volunteer Advocate training is hosted by WFCC once a quarter. We also welcome volunteer groups based on needs and availability.
