I have never regretted any money spent on public parks & rec until now... This place is a disgrace, and the fact they ask you for $75 a year or whatever it is, is an even bigger disgrace. Maybe it has dried up by now but we tried to go there week after week this spring, even into June, and it was not just a mud pit, it was lakes of standing water. Which of course dogs will drink and next thing you know they'll have giardia. Head to the clean (well, it is a dog park...) and usable Red Oaks - it's a lot less expensive and the pass gets you in to ALL the county parks, including Orion Oaks Dog Park, which is definitely worth the drive.

Used to be a fantastic place to go let the pups run. Private, key fob only. However it started flooding last fall, then the flooding froze over, and after the melt off is now just a mud hole that’s only going to get worse with spring rain. Best part was an adjacent area of woods in the back that was wonderful with lots of trees and winding paths but it’s completely under water and totally ruined. Such a shame that the city let this place go after collecting fees. I renewed in hopes it would change but I don’t see much response from the city, so other than a drought I don’t see how it could.

You have to have a park pass and a key for this park, and they don’t offer day passes. To get a key and pass you have to bring you pet license and proof of vaccines to the Royal Oak city clerk. If you or anyone in the future just needs to go to the park for one day Red oaks has day passes and there is an attendant there to hand them out, I think it’s $5 for a day you just have to have you pets rabies vaccine tag on them and you are good to go.
Don't think so, you have to get a key fob from the City of Royal Oak
Weekday before 3 After dusk After any rain because the park drains very slowly
City of royal oak web site has the necessary paperwork on line. You will need shot records for each dog you register to visit the park. Residents are 30.00 per year . You should be able to handle this at city Hall as well ..
Not too bad. Maybe 10-15 dogs most times of the day. Weekdays are busiest after work from 5-7.
You can purchase a pass for $65 If you're not a Royal Oak resident.
There's a range of dogs that we see in the park. All are friendly. Occasionally a couple of dogs will have a short tiff but the owners react quickly and appropriately; they're dogs after all. There's a smaller fenced area for smaller or timid dogs. Rules state for find to be minimum 4 months old. https://www.romi.gov/542/Dog-Park-Membership-Renewal
Yes, the dog needs to be registered and up to date on their vaccination
