Questions & Answers

What are Sunday hours?

Paula Pilarski | Sep 4, 2022
Baldwin Public Library | Sep 4, 2022

Hi there. Normally, Sunday hours are 12p-5p, but the building is currently closed due to water damage. We are offering curbside pickup this weekend, so give us a call at 248-647-1700 to speak to a staff member if we can set anything aside for you to collect. We plan to reopen most of the building for regular hours on Monday, 8/22, with the Youth Room remaining closed while the repairs continue.

Do you have "play aways" to check out?

A Google User | Feb 6, 2022
Baldwin Public Library | Feb 6, 2022

We do! If you search "playaway" in our catalog search box at baldwinlib.org, you can see a long list of results. If you would like further assistance locating them in the catalog, give us a call so we can walk you through it.

Why is the library closed to the public? Our kids can’t even get out of the house to study. I believe these library’s are funded by taxpayer dollars. Where is the outrage. How long will they continue this garbage?

Mark Karcher | Nov 3, 2021
Baldwin Public Library | Nov 3, 2021

Hi Mark, The Library is open for Curbside Pickup seven days a week right now. Additionally, we are offering a variety of virtual programs and services. https://www.baldwinlib.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/AtHomeBPL_Print.pdf Our website lists the metrics we are using to determine our reopening for Grab & Go service, when we request that patrons visit and use the library for 45 minutes or less. https://www.baldwinlib.org/reopening/ Due to COVID-19 and the continuing public health risks, Baldwin will not be fully open for in person studying until the pandemic ends. I was unable to leave a voicemail for you this morning because your mailbox was full. Please call me at 248-554-4681 to talk further. Rebekah Craft Library Director

Can I donate books to Baldwin?

Peter Gray Full House | Nov 3, 2020
Baldwin Public Library | Nov 3, 2020

Hi Peter, thank you for thinking of the Baldwin Public Library. Unfortunately, at this phase of our reopening plan we are not accepting any book donations. Humble Design (humbledesign.org) normally accepts books and that the Vietnam Vets of America (vva.org) usually will pick up 1-5 boxes of books, but we do not know if this is still the case right now. For more information about our reopening plans, please visit baldwinlib.org/reopening

Can I return DVDs now?

Carol Windorf | Nov 3, 2020
Baldwin Public Library | Nov 3, 2020

Hi Carol, yes you may! Our curbside dropbox is open, as are the outside and inside return slots. Welcome back to Baldwin! We are now open our regular hours, but are currently in our Grab & Go phase. For more information, please visit baldwinlib.org/reopening
