I commute I-294 daily to work and taking my daughter to and from school. A couple months ago I bought an electric vehicle. I was surprised when I got an email notifying me of several missed tolls. However, my pay by plate covered the charges since my transponder didn’t. I figured it was my old transponder so I switched to my husbands account and used one of his transponder thinking it would remedy the issue. Unfortunately it didn’t. Apparently the windshield transponders don’t work in electric vehicles. After talking with the tollway customer service they informed me I needed to go in and get a transponder that mounts to the front license plate. I went in and swapped them out. Despite the swap, I later got a bill in the mail for almost $200 in missed tolls including fees. I was informed I needed to go back in to have them cross reference the dates of the tolls and have the fees removed. The missed tolls all happened when I had my original windshield transponder. I go in and explain the situation to the customer service woman. Her name is Patrice. She was so helpful! She was very patient and understanding, and even explained my situation to her coworker so she would know how to resolve the issue for others. Patrice is an asset to them and she deserves a promotion. I went in thinking I’d have an uphill battle to remove the fees even though it was no fault of my own, but she made my visit an absolute breeze!
