PetSafe Village in West Knoxville had a dog jump a fence recently which resulted in one of the dogs being severely injured by another. PetSafe's solution is to ban all existing dogs who have ever jumped a fence based on an application question. After speaking with a manager it was made clear: 1. No exceptions are being made 2. No consideration is being allowed for how long it's been since the dog jumped the fence or if there has ever been any indication of this in previous stays 3. They are not willing to set criteria to evaluate dogs who could possibly jump How many dogs do they have in their facility who are capable of jumping fences where it wasn't noted on their intake form? (Make sure to take this question in serious consideration when filling out your application). It would seem the safer solution would be to modify the facilities to include ceilings in the boarding kennels instead of blanket banning and not addressing the real issue. For Example, our poodle once got over a 4 ft chain link fence when he was a puppy. Three years later, there has never been another incident of him going over a fence and he has been boarded at PetSafe multiple times without incident. Today we got the phone call that he would no longer be allowed to be boarded there even though I have had reservations scheduled through the end of the year (including Christmas) for months.
