Needed a triangular piece of glass cut to finish a project started over a year back. Tried several glass companies but no one could cut this shape. I put the project on hold as I was not sure I would ever get the glass cut. Stopped in to GlassDoctor on a whim expecting the same answer I got from several companies…. “Sorry we can’t do that.” Not only could GlassDoctor do it but they called me back within a couple of hours to tell me the job was done. Project now completed and looks great. Thank you GlassDoctor for doing what others couldn’t do.

Noticed a small chip in my vehicle windshield over the weekend and figured I’d better have it repaired asap. I called and they were able to fit me in immediately! I drove right over and they took my keys and got started. I’d had an almost dime size star rock chip about 10 years ago on my 2010 vehicle they fixed the same day as well — and although the tech told me there was a chance it could spread again, which I knew — it lasted almost 8 years! And it still hadn’t run when I sold the car 4 years ago. Can’t ask for any more than that! Very pleased with their professionalism and knowledge as well. All around great experience, oh and the price wasn’t out of line either.

Absolutely fantastic, exceptional customer service!!. Needed a garage door window panel replacement, came in with an extra window for measurements, I thought I would have to pick up another day…..they made the window for me on the spot!! Couldn’t believe it! They did a terrific job! They do all kind of glass work, big or small especially cars! Windshield’s and all, for homes, shower doors you name it. I would encourage anyone in need of glass repair or replacement to give the Glass Doctor of Dearborn Heights I try. Honest work, Excellent quality, convenience and customer service is what you will receive. Something that’s unfortunately becoming hard to find at many other places now of days…..

Questions & Answers

Can you cut tempered glass?

Glass Doctor of Dearborn Heights, MI | Jun 5, 2022
Glass Doctor of Dearborn Heights, MI | Jun 5, 2022

Unfortunately, tempered safety glass, by design, cannot be cut. It is designed to break into small pieces when cut or broken to reduce the risk of significant injuries to the person breaking it. Using safety glass, of which “tempered” is one type, is mandated by state building codes in specific applications like doors, sidelights, showers, etc. Please call Glass Doctor if you want more information on this topic.

Do you replace sliding door rollers?

Yes! We do replace rollers if needed. Of course, we try to clean the tracks and rollers and adjust first. If that does not work, we will discuss replacing the rollers for you.

Can you buff scratches out of glass?

Glass Doctor of Dearborn Heights, MI | Jun 5, 2022
Glass Doctor of Dearborn Heights, MI | Jun 5, 2022

Scratch removal in residential glass and light commercial applications is not a commercially viable solution. Basically, it is labor-intensive and not very successful. Furthermore, if the customer is not satisfied with the result, they are understandably not willing to pay for the time and materials invested by the glass company. Scratch removal and scratch buffing systems exist; however, they are typically only practical in warehouses, industrial, and on larger commercial glass projects. Please call our Glass Doctor office if you would like a more detailed explanation.

Only the bottom section of my window is broken. Do you have to change the entire sash, or can you just change the glass in my frame?

We specialize in glass replacement. We can, in most cases, remove the glass from the frame and install new glass. Your existing window sash will remain.

We are remodeling our bathroom and would like our existing mirror cut down to a smaller size. Can you do that?

Glass Doctor of Dearborn Heights, MI | Jun 5, 2022
Glass Doctor of Dearborn Heights, MI | Jun 5, 2022

Most likely. However, if the mirror is glued to the wall, there is no guarantee that it can be taken down without breaking. If you can get the existing mirror off the wall, we will need the mirror brought to our shop to cut down. There is no guarantee that the mirror will cut without breaking either. We cannot be responsible if a piece of glass or mirror that belongs to a customer breaks when trying to cut it, but we always do our best to cut carefully.
