I have used Skagit river river steal and recycling service's many times since 1972 to 2021. Frankly I have to say 89 percent of my dealings with this business have gone as expected. However, today I left disappointed. Before driving over I checked the internet for averages on the price of scrap aluminum for Washington state - 35 cents per pound for cans 59 cents per pound for "6063" clean prepared heavy aluminum. I arrived with four, 3'×3' thick solid aluminum plates, 4 aluminum car wheels weighing in @ 173 lbs and one large trashcan full of cans weighing in @ 12 lbs The weighmaster couldn't tell me anything about the price per pound when I asked, - he said,d "have a clue I only do the weighing. After leaving Skagit recycling with their check and paperwork that showed I was paid 25 cents per pound for the cans and only 22 cents per pound for the "6063" prepared heavy. This is one of those times I felt disappointed with this business. On another more recent visit I brought in two thousand seven hundred pounds of grade A USA bethel prepared steel on my 3/4 ton pickup. Upon leaving with their paperwork that spelled out I sold them unprepared light steel I felt very similar disappointment. For one, I can't fit two thousand seven hundred pounds of light unprepared steel on my 3/4 ton truck - it's to small for that kind of volume. Did I get hoodwinked!? Not sure what's going on over there but I do hope they get back to those five star days like remember having most of the time.

I spent 6 months stripping copper wire for some extra bill money. stripping copper wire is not easy and it is hard to do especially when your doing it by hand. I went to turn it in and get some cash the price for copper is 2.05 lb.. I had 4 containers full of copper and high grade copper at that. The containers themselves without copper is probably between 2 to 5lbs. I used 3 milk crates and one plastic totes to take it all in. ( dont weigh very much) I pull in and the office guy told me to go around back and wait for the person to wave me on through the shop to weigh out my copper. Drive to the back. shop guys come out take my copper and weight only half if it on a scale. (Unless the wheel narrows they use have a scale built in them? ) they didnt weigh the largest portion of the copper I brought. Maybe there is one built into the last can they put it in or something.....who knows....and then they told me to go around front and drive onto the scale. I did and when I looked up at the scale weight of my empty car the digital screen kept on bleeping in and out with a weight difference of 60lbs. ( wasn't sure what to think) then a guy comes walking out hands me a check for 470.50. I was trying to get outta there so they could close up so I didnt think anything if it until on my way home. I pulled over and looked at their gross , rare, and not weight and was completely angry! The gross weight was 330.00lbs. THEY SAID THE TARE WEIGHT was 149lbs!!!! The container I brought it in did not weigh 149 lbs. THEY ONLY PAID ME FOR HALF OF MY COPPER. I'm so upset this check should be about 300 more than what they gave me.

They don't pay for most metal unless you have over 500lbs. They are happy to "free of charge" if you have less than 500lbs which can be helpful if you want to get rid of something they take without pay.

These guys are crooks! They weighed my load without me in my truck then weighed me in my truck without load. I've been scrapping for a long time and this place was the worst business I've ever experienced! And when you call them on their shadiness all you get is what are you gonna do? Second generation family owned? That must mean you learned to be dirtbags from the first generation! Stupid people shouldn't breed!

Yes, we do accept Lead Acid Batteries. Teresa Skagit River Steel & Recycling
I think they do, but I am not certain. If not, the Skagit County waste transfer facility in Burlington does. They take recyclables at no charge.
Not sure. I went there for steel purchase.

Yes scrap it on down there
I am sure they do. They take all scrap metals. You just need to get it there. And they need to have enough room to use the magnate to lift it out of you truck or trailer without doing damage to your vehicle.
