Beautiful small green park and well maintained! There is a small playground and picnic area with picnic tables. There are a lot of trash cans around and a clean bathroom. This is an excellent place for sports practices, and there are always teams there playing soccer.

There are many walking trails in the park, most of them are gravel. The river provides relief from the hot summer days. During the fall, winter and spring the park is usually not too busy. In the summer it can be pretty packed and hard to find parking sometimes.

A sprawling wooded area with many interweaving walking paths also fun for bike riding with Dirt, Stoney, and Paved along some paths. Many fantastic spots by the river that's goes through it. A large Field area, a Playground, and... a baseball diamond or 2 i believe. One of my favorite parks to visit for walks. Always a joy to find cool mushrooms, flora, and the occasional rock art.

What I love the most: SO close to home. 15-min drive to well-maintained non-asphalt trails through wood and along the Deschutes river. What I don't love: In spite of signs stating dogs must be leashed, you'll need to watch for untethered canine friends running ahead of (away from) their human friends. I *did* hear the humans calling out to their critters, but really, that doesn't compare to an actual, engaged leash. Loose dogs aside, this looks like a great place to drift the river. Another really beautiful job by Parks people! Btw -- there's also a huge sports field complex and a kids' playground, on the other side of the plentiful parking lot.

Yes it's in the Washington state fishing rules and regulations book and most year round lakes won't be in this year's book got to look on line
I assume you need to call the City of Tumwater.
I have seen people metal detecting in Pioneer Park and they have never been Disturbed. Pioneer Park is next to the Deschutes River there is metal detecting allowed uncertain bends in areas of the Deschutes River. Check with your local Tumwater and Olympia City departments and they should be able to give you directions on where and when it's allowed.
Assuming you meant leash, yes, there are signs posted requiring leashes. That being said, many people take their dogs off leash to go swimming in the river.
Depends on where you get out. Not long if you stay in the park.
The only requirement to enjoy Pioneer Park is the ability to arrive during daylight hours and a desire to enjoy the park. There are no parking fees or entrance fees. There are beautiful woodland trails and access to the Deschutes River.
Does Pioneer Park provide life vests? Or do you need to buy them from Walmart or big sports like you do a tube?
Six bucks gets ya a cheap tube at wallmart and decent river runners are way to go i think 12 or 13 bucks this year
Beware of leeches I will post pictures of the leech we found on my daughter float seriously gross and in all my 32 yrs of floating this river never believed nor ever saw leeches in this river until this evening
