Shalom my name is Silvia, my family and I are looking for a synagogue, we are living to 55 min away so my question is, if we can't drive in Shabbat, how we go there to enjoy the service to have a holy congregation? Thank you for your time. Blessings

Why can't we drive in Shabbat? If we look at Exodus 20 verse 8 to 11, it only says that those who are human being or animals must rest because they are made of flesh. Our vehicles are not made of flesh, they don't need any rest. By driving our vehicle on the Sabbath we're not violating any of God's Commandments. However, I do gas up on Friday before sundown because buying gas on the Sabbath would be violating God's Commandments. The Sabbath is about resting our bodies and not buying nor selling so we can give others time to rest as well. I also avoid tolls when driving. I do however keep my driving at a minimum as not to put myself in situations where I'm tempted or forced to violate God's Commandments. But driving a vehicle that's already gasseed up is not violating the Sabbath. Just make sure to keep driving at a minimum. The driving we do on that day should be for the benefit others not for ourselves and yes, is ok to drive to chuch and back :)
