Always a pleasure to shop here during our annual shore vacation! Many interesting gift ideas and other misc.

I’m a newly hired third grade teacher and basically hit the ground running when I started and have not had time to visit Borden’s. I taught about 14 years ago and always bought supplies at this store. I was very excited to finally have time to go this past Saturday. I looked up the store hours which stated they closed at 5. I arrived a little before 4pm and was greeted by a gentleman asking me if I needed help finding anything. I explained one of the many items I was looking for and he replied very abruptly “I have no idea what you are talking about!” and walked away to help other customers. I went about my business looking at everything and getting ideas of what I was going to purchase. I was then approached by the gentleman again asking if I needed further assistance and I told him I was just looking around. After the way he responded the first time I needed help, I realized he didn’t really want to be helpful. He then proceeds to tell me that he hates to tell me this, but he’s closing soon. Being as I knew they closed at 5pm, I questioned the closing time while looking at my watch noticing it was only 4. He stated sometimes people have things to do and have to close early. More people were walking in and he said in a very annoyed manner “UGH, now more people are coming in, I guess I have to stay open. I’ll give you a little time to shop, but not too much longer.” At that point I was completely turned off and told him he lost me as a customer and how nasty he is. It’s not like I live very close to this store and to be treated with poor customer service after I made a special trip there is unacceptable. Being as it’s the only teacher store left in the area, I will continue to shop online as I did as soon as I got home from Borden’s. I had sent an email asking for the owner to contact me. It is now Wednesday and still have not received any response. I have a feeling the gentleman I encountered may be the owner and seriously needs some customer service training or even simply how to treat others. June 2022 Follow-up ~ I have not shopped in this store since this incident and will never step foot in it as long as it has the same owners.

Borden's has always had what we have needed at reasonable prices. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Its nice to still have a small local place in town to grab our office supplies just minutes away.

My father, a senior citizen, wanted to patronize a local business for a recent notary need. He went to Borden's to get something notarized. Mr. Lubin charged him $10 even though the price set by NJ Department of Treasury Division of Revenue and Enterprise Service caps the price state wide at $2.50. When my father questioned the 4x upcharge, Mr. Lubin said "he was doing my father a favor (the document was signed at this point) he could have charged my father $20 or $30" Mr.Lubin took advantage of the situation and a senior citizen. My father contacted the county and the state notifying them of Mr. Lubin and this establishment’s unfair business practices.

Cory, sorry, but incorrect. Borden's does have a notary, usually 6 days a week. Usually not on Sunday
