*Bait and Switch! 10/23/2021 Went to see Stanley Kubrick's classic "The Shining", to experience the movie in a theater expecting to see the [as advertised], 144 minute 'US version' (2h 26m), and it became clear scenes were cut. and they were showing the hacked up 119 minute version. (Even TCM shows the full version) This was especially disappointing because one of us in our group of 4 had never seen the movie before. The cuts completely throw off the mood and pace of the film, as it was originally intended. Very lame. Really lame. If you paid to visit the Art Institute of Chicago and they had holes cut out of 1/5th of Georges Seurat's "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte", you would be justifiably disappointed. If they had correctly advertised the version of the film they showed, I would have no reasonable grounds to complain. But they did not. A very amateur mistake that unfortunately was both misleading and displeasing. *Aesthetics 1. The cobwebs hanging from the ceiling casting shadowy images on the screen where distracting, pretty terrible. 2. The theater was cold. 3.The sound system is beyond terrible, noticeably inadequate. And if that wasn't bad enough, you can hear the sound from the movie playing on the screen in the next room! At some points, you can hear the sound from the other movie playing in the next room louder than the movie we were watching. Overall the entire experience was awful, theaters run this poorly are the reason why people stay home. Theaters run this poorly give people reasons to stay home. The Moviehouse in Millerton gets an "F", a complete fail. People who care about movies, care about movies.

Theater with speakeasy vibes. Makes you want to dress up for the movies. Recently attended a film series event with guest speaker and expert Joseph Luzzi and it was great! Very unique venue. Looking forward to the next one!

Anyone who's ever gone here, even once, will tell you they love it. Besides first run movies, this old fashioned, charming theater streams fabulous stage performances from London. The snacks are also awesome. Like their marketing slogan says, "It's about community".
