Mary Elizabeth was an excellent tour guide. We love the Turtle Hospital. So thankful for this facility and all they do to help these beautiful animals

Great experience, the tour is 90 minutes long and part of it is in the A/C and part of it is outside. While outdoors, you will be in the shade but not not free from getting sunburned, so make sure you wear your sunscreen. They have misters going to help cool you off while you’re outside too. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and interactive and we learned a lot about these sweet little creatures. Highly recommended for everyone!

A little too expensive 😕

Yes, they are ok. The owner is actually in the middle of a turtle rescue today.
They don't take untrained volunteers. Instead you are invited to report injured turtles if you see one in the water. If your found turtle is rescued - then you get to name the turtle as a thank you.
No, there's not. The hospital's main purpose is to nurse turtles back to health and to keep those which can't be put back out into the wild. You can visit the turtles and get real close, but can't swim with them. Still recommend!
At the center? Or on hatchling watch? Watch for my son was when he was 10 but required adult supervision as it is on the water and usually at night...but at the center I think you would need to ask them. Liability and training comes into play.
Hi Joe, the sea turtle Hospital does not have dolphins. Try the Dolphin Research Center on Grassy Key
From the Miami area to Turtle Hospital is 120 miles, about 2.5 hr drive
Yes, there are considered an invasive species.
For my lizards, I have found Facebook groups for each specific animal type. I'm sure there are turtle groups. They are volunteer and knowledgeable and your will get ideas from many members of the group. It may take a short while for you to join and be accepted by the group. I use Facebook groups as a resource for many varied things in my life.
Go to the website or simply call them to make reservations. It truly is a worthwhile experience and they are saving many turtles!
I would call and ask. It's mostly outdoors and a lot of the tanks are high enough, but hard to say if they would allow it. Especially with all that is going on. If you're with a group you would be able to keep the puppy out of the turtle areas easily enough though.
I think I recall they had like 30. At the time of my visit two weeks ago.
They hospital does talk about removing debris from turtles digestive tract. Plastic in the oceans is a problem that needs to be managed. The big question that needs to be asked is how much plastic is coming from the US. We do a very good job of keeping our trash out of the ecosystems. Most if the ocean trash comes from other third world countries.
Talk to the turtle hospital about adopting and care of the turtle

They don't do check ups its a place where ppl bring wild sea turtles that have been injured.
It is an ongoing effort for keys locals, and we also constantly remind visitors hiw important it is. Especially plastic bags, no matter how careful we are, they seem to end up everywhere. Thank you for asking. Kat
