Visited the pop up in the Columbia Center tower. I haven't donated in almost 20 years due to an excessive fear of needles and blood. All of the staff were confident, comforting and professional. Deb is amazing and made my experience so positive I'll definitely be making a repeat donation in a few months.

DOESN'T TEST all donated blood for DISEASES and that's why they ask you the series of questions upon donating to decipher whom's blood to accept. They told me it would be too expensive to test my blood every time. It's outrageous and should be unlawful.

Had needle inserted without my skin being cleaned first. Poor blood pressure cuff technique. Questionable point-of-care hematocrit measurements. I don't trust them. Find a Red Cross instead.

I donate here on a regular basis, and have always found the staff friendly, caring and professional. They know me by name, actually, and take the time to chat and make one feel comfortable -- especially if you're donating platelets (which takes several hours, as opposed to whole blood). There's a parking garage, too. Free parking for donors, just sign in at the front desk. Yes, they will call you a lot. I requested that they email me instead, and the calls dropped off somewhat, but I understand they are calling because they need to. I usually just don't answer the phone, but at least when they call, I know the 60 days has passed and it's time to donate a pint again. Donating blood is easy, fast and a good way to give back to society without spending a lot of money or time. PSBC
