Mr. Carlos Hurtado, an excellent person in attention and communication, from the moment he began to assist me until the end of the appointment, he gave me a lot of confidence and total openness.

I have been with Security for a number of years and have been happy with their service, but a big shout out goes to Jenny Pennings for all the personalized service she gave us while processing a loan for us. She went above and beyond the norm!!!

I have banked with Security National Bank for nearly a decade, and over the majority of the time doing business with them have been generally satisfied. So it pains me to give this negative review, as I have built a lot of great relationships with bankers at the bank. However, over the past 3-4 months, it has been increasingly difficult to talk to a personal banker over the phone to get service. While I understand that the bank may also be affected by the labor crunch, the latest issue has caused me to re-evaluate my relationship with the bank. Over the past week, a returned item check was charged to my account, as well as a $5.99 fee. As I don't deposit checks into my bank very often (usually only a couple times a year), I was confused by this charge, considering it was a nearly $400 charge + fee. After attempting to call and talk to a banker for several hours, I had to visit the bank in person as it didn't appear anyone would answer the phone. When arriving at the bank, I sat down with the banker, and it appears that they had already reversed the $400 charge and the fee. However, the $400 charge and fee reversal was pending, so it affected my available balance, reducing it by the $400 amount. The banker gave the explanation that it was due to an encoding issue on the bottom of the check, and when the person that presented the check had deposited it, the scanner misread the account. However, this didn't make sense to me, as if it was an error when the check was scanned, the initial $400 deposit should have also been credited to my account, which at no time it was. So at some point when the check was returned to the bank non-sufficient, it somehow got tied to my account and I was charged for it, not the original account that received the deposit. The banker did indicate that a person noticed the error, and manually corrected it the day prior. I have multiple concerns about this- first, the refund shows as the day after the charge on my online banking, with contradicts with the bankers statement that it was done immediately after it was charged. Second, while the $400 charge was taken out immediately, the refund was in a pending state, which negatively affected my available balance. Finally, if this was processed manually, and since this was a significant bank error where the bank charged me $400 by mistake and a person manually corrected it, they should have contacted me to inform me that something had occurred. It wasn't until I logged into my account and noticed the error that I was aware that it even occurred- it almost seems like they tried to slip it under the radar and hoped I wouldn't notice it. So, after nearly a decade of banking with Security, this has soured my feelings on them and I have begun the process of switching my accounts to another bank. Had it just been one or two things, I could have overlooked it, but being that I was charged $400 in error, couldn't get a banker to respond for over a day and required me to visit in person, and even though they corrected it, they had a hold on those funds for over 24 hours, I just couldn't rationalize staying. I keep coming back to the thought that if it could happen once, it could happen again with a much larger amount, and that with the struggles to get a hold of a banker, I just couldn't rationalize the risk. I truly hope they put corrective actions in place, as I made a large number of strong connections with the bank over the years.

I heard the interest rates are very low right now. I would like to speak to Julie Schmidt, about refinancing my home again. I want to know if a 15 year mortgage would cost the same or less than my current 30 year mortgage? Thanks!
